Patient presents with acute asthma symptoms
- Obtain history and perform physical examination
- Assess auscultation findings
- Assess accessory muscle use
- Monitor heart rate and respiratory rate
- Obtain PEF or FEV₁
- Assess oxygen saturation
- Obtain arterial blood gas if patient is in extremis
